Aimee Beyers, MA, AMFT, APCC

I bring to our sessions a deep reverence for the complex and nuanced nature of the human experience. In particular, I’m intrigued by the unknown and more murky aspects of life including: life transitions, existing in-between cultures, psychedelic/ mystical experiences, identity, loss, relationships, anxiety, and the complexities of a creative or entrepreneurial career.

My approach to therapy is informed by my own life story as a person who has, since childhood, navigated starkly different cultures, the act of saying “good bye,” and the experience of being an outsider due to a series of international moves. In practice, this allows me to see beyond the confines of social norms and one-size-fits-all approaches. Instead of following a prescribed script, our work relies on an exploration into your world, with your hopes and concerns guiding our way— so we may craft a path forward that is uniquely suited to you.

In addition, my background in the music industry (working as a musician and songwriter for over a decade) provides me with a particular sensitivity to those in creative fields and those who think creatively. I am familiar with juggling artistic integrity and commercial expectations, the perils and joys of working in a highly subjective field, the changing landscape due to “the algorithm,” and “success” as it ebbs and flows. I’m also familiar with the otherworldly sense of awe a person can experience when, for even a moment during the creative process, all feels aligned.

I work in a collaborative manner, merging the explorative nature of narrative therapy with somatic interventions designed to treat traumatic stress reactions within the body.

FAQ

  • Yes, I am currently meeting clients throughout California online via a HIPAA compliant teletherapy platform as well as in-person in Silver Lake, Los Angeles.

  • My fee is $165 per 50-minute individual or couple session. I also have a few sliding scale spots open for lower income clients. Payment is collected at the end of each session via cash, credit card, or check.

  • I do not currently accept insurance, however, as an out-of-network, pre-licensed associate, I’d be happy to provide a monthly superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Please contact your insurance provider before starting therapy to verify your coverage.

  • Contact me to set up an initial phone conversation. We’ll talk for around 20-minutes so I can broadly get to know what brings you to therapy and we can determine if I’m the right person to help you. If I’m not, I’ll provide you with referrals. If it seems like a good fit, we’ll set a first appointment and I’ll email you my initial paperwork for completion.
